Double Exposure, John Walter
John Walter transposes the structure of his imagination into the real world. His work is a channeling of social anthropology and psychoanalysis, investigating in either direction the macrocosm of the world outside and the microcosm of his internal world. His work is a dissection of the self, revealing both narcissist and Everyman.
The exhibition incorporates painted photocopies, abstract photographs and large texts cut from glitter fabric to a range of visual textures suspended beneath the coloured veil. ‘Double Exposure’ paintings are made using a flat coloured ground with a cut paper collage over which is stretched a veil of translucent organza that tints the colours beneath. The effect is ethereal and produces a colour world; space is homogenized.
