Position-Place-Situate-Locate

This exhibition brings together twelve previously unrelated artist and curator researchers in a multi-disciplinary exhibition.

at Triangle Space, Chelsea College of Art and Design,

Mário Pires Cordeiro, Ali Goodyear, Lucia Maria Gomez, Catherine Long, Amanda Newall, Lucy Payne, Trish Scott, Caroline Smith and Denise Walker will exhibit work that has either informed their area of scholarly activity or that demonstrates the development of their PhD research.

The curatorial activity of Francesca Baglietto and Amy McDonnell has prompted an experimental process that prioritises encounter and exchange as an on-going act, not just as a final outcome between viewer and artwork. Rather than pretending to affiliate work within one formal grouping, Position-Place-Situate-Locate aims to connect people and ideas through the generation of information and dialogue.

Emails, notes, interviews, meetings and discussions multiply into a conversation-led interrelation drawing on the diversity of approach and theme amongst these artists. The exhibition blog acts as both an archive for this material and as an interface to promote knowledge-building between artists and visitors to the site. Interaction will continue into the exhibition space with a series of panel-audience discussions, presentations, text and informal gatherings.

The approach aims to feed the exhibition and produce interstices of misreading and layered response.
