Art Licks Weekend 2017: Apply Now!

Applications are currently open for the Art Licks Weekend; to mark the festival's fifth year it will be themed with the title, 'Finding Solutions'.

The Art Licks Weekend collaborates with artist-led spaces and independent projects across London to celebrate the contribution early career artists and curators make to the Capital. The festival community is a positive one that focuses on peer-to-peer networks and knowledge exchange, whilst encouraging forward-thinking practices to challenge the status quo.

To mark its fifth anniversary, the Art Licks Weekend will take on a theme for the first time, titled: Finding Solutions.

In recent years, the situation for artists and creative practitioners in London has become increasingly difficult. Rents and costs have rocketed, studio provision plummeted and funding has been severely cut. In these situations it is important to find positive solutions and supportive communities.

For 2017, the festival will consider the current creative climate in London and explore the different ways artists and curators are working together to continue to make challenging new work, to collaborate and exhibit.

We are looking for proposals for exhibitions and events that will present the work of emerging young artists, collectives and curators; in particular experimental, innovative practices that demonstrate new ideas and discussions. This year we request that proposals respond to the festival theme of Finding Solutions.

Galleries and Groups that are eligible to apply are:

- Not-for-profit spaces and galleries, working with emerging artists

- Artist-led initiatives

- Young gallery spaces

- Curatorial projects / collectives

- London-based (please note the festival will focus on East and South East London)

- Groups that have been running for at least 6-12 months

Deadline too apply: Monday 24 July, 10am.
